Here are a few items I keep in my guest room to create a comfortable and luxurious space. Adding just a few of these items to your guest room will significantly elevate the guest experience at your home and ensure your guests are able to get a good night's sleep.

I have included where you can find these items at a few different price points. Also, keep in mind that around the winter holidays, pillows and bedding generally go on sale, so keep that in mind if you are on a budget.

1. Down and Memory Foam Pillows.

There is nothing better than placing your head down on plush down pillows. Good down pillows are an investment, however if you are not willing to spend a little more, opt for a memory foam pillow instead (cheap down pillows are generally a disappointment). Memory foam pillows are a good runner up as far as support and comfort go.

I like having a mix of both down and memory foam pillows on my guest bed. If you are willing to make the investment, here are a few options for down pillows online with great reviews: The Company Store, Parachute, and Brooklinen, Another great option is buying pillows from your favorite hotel brand such as Westin, Fairmont, and the Ritz-Carlton. Additionally, here is a highly rated memory foam pillow from Amazon.

2. Bamboo Sheets.

Bamboo fabric is incredibly soft. It is naturally antimicrobial and a lifesaver for hot sleepers as it is breathable and cooler than other fabrics. Keep this in mind, however, if you live in a colder environment or keep your house very cold. If that is the case, you should provide your guests with some warm blankets or perhaps swap the bamboo top sheet with a warmer fabric.

Here are some options: Cozy Earth, the Company Store, and Amazon. I have purchased a set under $40 from Amazon and I thought it was not worth the money. If you do not want to spend $60-100+ on bamboo sheets, I suggest opting for a 100% cotton sheet set, which will generally fall at a slightly lower price range but still have a luxurious feel. I generally avoid microfiber sheets as they are typically not very breathable and there is nothing worse than waking up in a sweat.

3. Memory Foam Mattress Topper.

If you did not invest in a nice mattress for your guest-room, this is a must. Even if you did, a nice mattress topper can give your bed a plush, almost cloud like feel. Viscosoft makes a wonderful mattress topper. For a less expensive option, here is one on Amazon. If a mattress topper is not in your budget another good option is an egg crate mattress topper.

4. A Quilt or Coverlet.

Some of favorite quilts are from Lilli Alessandra and Peacock Alley. I also love anything from the Company Store. I recommend a 100% cotton quilt, like this one. If you don't want to spend the money, I recommend opting for a really lovely cotton blanket. Here is one that had excellent reviews on Amazon.

5. A Down Duvet and Cotton Duvet Cover.

This is a good down duvet from Amazon. If you don't mind spending a little more, the Company Store has wonderful duvets and duvet covers. A wrinkle-free sateen duvet cover is a great option. I have a duvet cover from Lilli Alessandra that I love, but make sure to get a duvet from them since their covers are not a standard size.

6. Pillow Spray.

This is the easiest and least expensive upgrade you can make for your guest room. There is nothing better than a calming scent before bed. Lavender pillow sprays are also antimicrobial and generally calming. You can find amazing pillow sprays at hotel gift shops, such as this one from Hotel Emma in San Antonio. The Pillow Ritual sleep spray from Amazon is also a wonderful option. For a less expensive option, you can find the Dr. Teals Melatonin Spray at Walmart. You can also make your own

7. Bathrobes.

A bathrobe is a fun touch and a great solution if you don't have an en suite bathroom for your guests to use. Bathrobes are something you can spend as much or as little on as you like. I love terry cloth bath robes because they are luxurious, easy to clean, and can hold up to regular washing. Generally, a good terry cloth bathrobe is small investment. Waffle or cotton bathrobes are a less expensive option. Here is a waffle robe on Amazon with good reviews. Hotel bathrobes are also a fun option for your guest room. If you are traveling and find a bath robe that you love, nice hotels will generally allow you to buy them. The same thing goes for pillows. The Waldorf Astoria has amazing hotel bathrobes that they sell online with a number of other hotel room products. I also love the Hill House Home bathrobes.

8. Bath Sheets.

A bath sheet is just an extra large bath towel. Generally, anywhere that sells towels will have some options for bath sheets. I generally opt for a Turkish cotton or bamboo weave towel. Here are a few options for bath towels online: Cozy Earth, Company Store, Target, and Walmart.

9. Loofahs or Soap Infused Sponges.

When you travel, you generally are not going to take a sponge with you. A jar of small loofahs or sponges can be a nice treat for your guests. The idea with this is to find something that looks nice on display but can also be thrown away after use. A natural loofah cut up into small sponges or Spongellé travel sponges are a nice option.

10. A Luggage Rack.

This seemingly simple thing can make a big difference to your guests and help them feel more organized. Here is one from Amazon.
